Education Ministry approves allocation of RM204.25 mln to rebuild dilapidated schools in Baram

KUCHING, Nov 14: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has approved a total of 20 dilapidated school building reconstruction projects in the Baram constituency involving a cost of RM204.25 million.

According to MoE minister Fadhlina Sidek, the project’s implementation status as of today showed that eight had been completed and three were under construction, TVS reported.

She noted that nine more projects are in the pre-construction stage.

“The list of eight completed projects includes Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sungai Bong, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Hua Kwong, SK Poyut, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Long Lama, SMK Marudi, SK Long Laput, SK Sungai Buri, and SK Bario.

“Three projects under construction involve SK Long Lapok, SK Beluru Central, and SK Long Pelutan,” she said when answering a question from Datuk Anyi Ngau (Gabungan Parti Sarawak – Baram) at the Dewan Rakyat session in Kuala Lumpur today, as reported by the news outlet.

Regarding the three pre-construction projects, Fadhlina noted that all the projects have had preliminary work carried out, namely survey work and land investigation.

Furthermore, she mentioned that from the amount of approved allocations, up to today, as much as RM112.35 million has been spent on the reconstruction of dilapidated school buildings in the Baram constituency.

“There are four schools in the Baram constituency which are in poor condition being studied for redevelopment planning,” she added. — DayakDaily
