MIRI, 10 Oct: Local entrepreneurs especially in Miri are encouraged to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and digitization technologies to enhance the competitiveness of today's businesses.

The chairman of the Sarawak Department of Business (DUBS) Miri Branch, Hafidz Rohani said that rapid technological change requires entrepreneurs to continue learning and adapting to new methods in managing and developing businesses.

According to him, DUBS is also working with various government agencies and telecommunications companies to provide opportunities for members to take courses related to AI, content creation, video, TikTok, e-commerce and QR code payment.

"We are now in the era of AI and digitalization. Entrepreneurs need to know how this technology can help their business, not just follow trends.

"We are trying to bring appropriate courses and opportunities to members so that they can improve their skills as well as use technology to grow businesses", he said when interviewed in an interview with TVS.

The use of social media and digital platforms also gives entrepreneurs the opportunity to introduce products to a wider audience, as well as facilitate marketing and transactional affairs.

He also urged entrepreneurs not to be in the comfort zone with existing knowledge, but instead to constantly seek out knowledge and improve skills as current changes occur.

As such, DUBS will continue to act as a liaison with agencies and related parties to ensure that members have access to training, knowledge and opportunities that can help their businesses grow.

"We as entrepreneurs don't think we know enough. We have to learn all the time because things and technology are always changing.

"If we don't move with change, we might miss out", he added.

According to him, the approach is in line with DUBS's efforts to develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem that enables micro businesses to grow into small, medium-sized and then larger businesses.

He also hoped that more entrepreneurs in Miri would take the opportunity to follow the training and digitization programs provided, thus leveraging technology to strengthen their businesses. - TVS
