KUCHING, Mar 24: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has implemented a structured ferry operation schedule at Batang Lupar to ensure smoother traffic flow between Sebuyau and Triso, particularly during daily peak periods.
According to JKR Sarawak, ferry services are arranged based on traffic demand throughout the day, beginning with one ferry in operation at 4am, increasing to three ferries by 6am, and four ferries by 8am.
The number rises further to five ferries at noon, before tapering to four ferries at 6pm and three ferries at 8pm. Operations are reduced to one ferry by 10pm, with services ending at midnight.
JKR Sarawak emphasised that additional ferries may be deployed depending on real-time traffic conditions to ease congestion and improve connectivity for road users travelling across the Batang Lupar river.
The department added that ferry operations remain subject to weather conditions and tidal movements, which may affect schedules and frequency. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and exercise caution to ensure a safe and smooth trip. — DayakDaily
