Air pollution continued at unhealthy levels at smoke haze enveloped western Sarawak, and parts of Peninsular Malaysia.
Unhealthy readings were recorded at 5pm in seven areas of Sarawak: Serian (178), Kuching (171), Sri Aman (168), Samarahan (164), Sibu (157), Sarikei (152) and Bintulu (106).
Unhealthy readings were also recorded in Johor: Larkin (158), Pasir Gudang (155) and Tangkak (102); Kuala Lumpur : Cheras (149) and Batu Muda (121); Perak: Seri Manjung (159); Selangor: Shah Alam (152); Putrajaya (121); Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (111) and Bukit Rambai in Melaka (108).
The Asean haze monitoring centre reported “unhealthy” to “hazardous” levels of air pollution in Kalimantan, western Sarawak and southern Sumatra.
Widespread hotspots were detected over Kalimantan while isolated hotspots were detected in Sumatra and Sarawak. Moderate to dense smoke plumes were from hotspot clusters in Kalimantan and Sumatra, with smoke plumes drifting from Kalimantan into western Sarawak and southern Sabah, while smoke haze from southern Sumatra and Kalimantan was also observed to drift towards Singapore and southern Peninsular Malaysia.
