KUALA LUMPUR, June 29: Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd has confirmed a fire incident at its West Lutong Vent A (WLV-A) facility offshore Sarawak, which occurred at approximately 2pm yesterday.

The PETRONAS Carigali subsidiary said the situation has since been brought under control, while the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

In a statement today, Vestigo Petroleum said it is working closely with the relevant authorities and has implemented precautionary measures to manage any potential risk of exposure following the incident.

The company confirmed that no injuries were reported and no personnel were affected.

It also assured that the incident did not pose any immediate threat to surrounding communities or the environment.

“VESTIGO remains fully committed to the safety of its people, protecting the environment, and maintaining the integrity of its operations,” it said.

Vestigo Petroleum is a subsidiary of PETRONAS Carigali, operating offshore assets in Sarawak, including the West Lutong field area. — DayakDaily
