BINTULU (Dec 10): A team from the Samalaju fire station evacuated eight flood victims from three families during an operation at SK Kampung Nyalau here.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said a distress call was received at 8.34am.
Firefighters were deployed to the scene, located approximately 15km from the station.
Operations commander Irwin Abidin, who is also Samalaju fire station chief, said all victims were safely transported out of the flooded area using a rescue boat.
The rescued individuals comprised three adult men, three adult women, and two children.
Irwin added that the victims would be temporarily placed at the homes of relatives nearby.
Weather conditions were clear and the water was calm during the operation.
Police personnel were also at the site to assist.
