Firefighters save injured worker from overhead crane

KUCHING: Firefighters successfully rescued a local man from an overhead crane after he sustained a leg injury at Jalan Demak Laut, Industrial Park this afternoon (Dec 13).

The worker needs assistance to get down from an overhead crane after sustaining a leg injury.

The 58-year-old was working in a concrete manufacturing factory when he suffered injuries to his leg at around 2 pm.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) said that firemen from Tabuan Jaya and Padungan stations rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

On arrival, the team discovered the worker on the overhead crane, about seven metres above the ground at the top of the factory.

Responding swiftly, the team utilised ladders and a rope system to conduct the rescue operation and safely bring the victim down.

Following the descent, the injured worker received initial treatment on-site before being taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

The rescue operation concluded at 3.29 pm.
