Five Sadong Jaya tourism projects worth RM31 million to the population economy

SADONG JAYA, 15 Sept: Five tourism development projects in Sadong Jaya with a total value of RM31 million are expected to positively impact the socio-economic development of local people.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang said that the project is among the transformations to be implemented to elevate Sadong Jaya as a heritage-based tourism area.

"The five projects to be developed include the Waterfront which is equipped with an observation tower, Community Bazaar and Sadong Jaya Heritage Site, as well as two other components that complement tourism development planning in the area.

"The main objective is not only to beautify the area but also to give socio-economic value to the Sadung Jaya area. Overall the project has already received approval from IRSDA and site selection has also been approved, which we are discussing now from a design perspective as well as approval of the Sarawak Government Building Design Committee, SBDC at state level", he said.

He said this to TVS after chairing the IRSDA Socio-Economic Development Project Committee Meeting held at the Sadong Batang Service Centre here, today.

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development) of Sarawak, Datuk Aidel Lariwoo was also present.

Rubiah said the implementation of the project has the potential to open up more opportunities for locals to engage in tourism-related economic activities.

"The development not only aims to beautify the area, but also has the potential to increase tourism attractiveness and boost economic activity of local people.

"The development of tourist attractions and community facilities is expected to increase visitor arrivals, thereby benefiting local entrepreneurs as well as the community in Sadong Jaya.

Meanwhile, he said the implementation of the project is now focusing on the design aspects and process of obtaining construction approvals from relevant parties.

He said cooperation between government agencies, local authorities and stakeholders is crucial to ensure that the development projects can be realized early next year.
