KUCHING, Nov 28: Former Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) chief aviation and strategy officer Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin is set to take office as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of Sarawak’s new airline AirBorneo.

Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, who also serves as chairman of AirBorneo Holdings Sdn Bhd, confirmed the appointment when met by reporters at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Complex here today.

“Megat Ardian will officially report for duty on Jan 1, 2026.

“We have agreed to appoint him as the CEO of AirBorneo Airlines,” he said.

On Nov 26, national daily New Straits Times reported that AirBorneo is believed to have tapped Megat as its CEO, viewing him as the right person to steer the airline’s growth.

Megat Ardian is a familiar name in the industry, having previously held key roles at Malaysia Airlines Bhd, AirAsia Bhd and Saudi-based low-cost carrier Flynas before joining MAHB. – DayakDaily
