LUNDU: The Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) has approved 370 projects of which will benefit 10 constituencies.
Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said that these projects were approved under the allocation provided by the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, amounting to RM1.5 billion.
“Of these 370 projects, seven have been awarded to contractors, 11 have been tendered, 84 are ready for tender, and the remaining 268 projects are in various stages of planning, including consultant appointments and Bill of Quantities (BQ) preparation,” he said.
He said this during the ground-breaking ceremony for the GKCDA village road upgrade project in Opar constituency at Kampung Serayan Baru Multipurpose Hall here yesterday (Aug 10).
Sagah, who is also the GKCDA steering committee chairman said that these projects are community-focused and will enhance the quality of life for local residents, aligning with GKCDA’s tagline, ‘Development for the People.’
Later, he also officiated at the launch of the first GKCDA project which is the village road upgrade project for the Opar constituency, valued at RM9.68 million.
Meanwhile, Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said the event is particularly meaningful as it has the potential to drive significant development in the Opar area and turn the aspirations of the local community into reality.
He said the project will benefit 1,815 houses across 50 villages in the Lundu district.
“In addition to the village road upgrade project, several other projects will also be carried out under GKCDA’s allocation, with a total cost approaching RM144.93 million,” he said.
