July, 5 Oct: Unity and understanding between parties components of the Sarawak Joint Party (GPS) must continue to be strengthened in order to form a joint force in fighting for the interests of the people and ensuring that state development can be carried out continuously.
The President of the Sarawak People's Party (PRS), Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai said that strong cooperation between parties in the coalition is an important basis for ensuring every government plan can be realized.
"The agreement must be accompanied by joint action and commitment so that every government policy can be implemented effectively, as well as ensuring the benefits of development can be enjoyed by all sections of society.
"In this regard, I would like to call on the people to continue supporting the policies and initiatives of the Government of Sarawak to ensure that the state development agenda can be continued, thus maintaining the momentum of progress that benefits present and future generations", he said.
He, who is also the Minister in Sarawak's Premier Department, said so at the GPS Solidarity Dinner Meeting at the Julau Sports Complex Stadium, here yesterday.
In related developments, John Sikie explained, the Government of Sarawak continues to formulate a comprehensive development agenda taking into account the needs of people in urban and rural areas.
According to him, the effort includes improvement of various basic facilities and public services including education, health and safety, as well as strengthening social and economic development of local communities.
"DUN Meluan is also not exempt from receiving the benefits of government efforts and development planning. This proves that the needs and welfare of the people in this area have always been the focus of government.
"Therefore, various initiatives implemented by the government are expected to continue to have a positive impact", he said.
Meanwhile, he hoped that the DUN Meluan residents will continue to give confidence to the Member of the National Assembly (ADUN) of the region, Dato Rolland Duat Jubin to pursue development agenda and fight for people's interests through implementation of various planned initiatives.
The council brought together the leaders, representatives and supporters of four GPS component parties: United Party of People's Congress (UPC), United People's Party of Sarawak (SUPP), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and PRS.
