KUCHING (March 27): Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is gearing up for its 2026 convention, scheduled for April 19 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), with more than 4,600 participants confirmed from its four component parties.
GPS secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the confirmed delegates include 1,466 from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), 1,020 from Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), 1,130 from Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), and 1,050 from Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
“With the spirit of ‘Sarawak First’, we hope that this convention, which has not been organised for several years, will bring together thousands of members in a harmonious atmosphere, and reflect our collective aspiration to see Sarawak continue to progress and prosper,” he said in a Facebook post after the third meeting of the GPS Convention Coordination Committee on Thursday at the PBB headquarters in Jalan Bako here.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also PBB deputy president.
Nanta said discussions focused on ensuring thorough preparations and close coordination to guarantee the convention runs smoothly and achieves its objectives.
