KUCHING (March 24): Hope Place Kuching is providing special milk powder supplements for a six-year-old boy diagnosed with severe malnourishment.

Muhammad Nur Aidil Rizqi Mohamad Norhisham has severe anemia and is intellectually challenged, said the charitable organisation in a statement.

“Aidil was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital in December last year and discharged earlier this year.

“Although he is already six years old, he weighs about 18kg. At home, he is hyperactive. His father Norhisham, 32, has to set up a barrier at the front door to prevent him from running to the main road,” said Hope Place.

It added that Aidil, who lives at Taman Mesra, Bako here with his parents and three siblings, is not sociable and has no desire for companionship.

Hope Place said Norhisham works as a food stall assistant is the family’s sole breadwinner, earning RM40 a day. His wife Susilawati, 28, is a housewife.

Susilawati told Hope Place that Aidil dislikes eating rice and prefers junk food to proper meals.

“There was an incident when he was younger, which made him hate the taste of rice,” she shared.

Aidil’s family has applied for social welfare assistance for him.

Hope Place is supplying not just special milk supplements but has also provided festive goodies in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

It welcomes donations and will issue receipts upon request.

Donors can deposit directly to Hope Place’s Maybank account 511289001160 or via the S Pay Global QR code on its Facebook page.
