KUCHING, Sept 19: The Gig Worker Bill is set to be tabled during the Budget 2025 announcement later this year, according to Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong.
Sim revealed that the Bill will address four key areas: the definition of gig workers, reasonable compensation elements, a grievance mechanism, and enhanced social security.
“The first draft has been completed, and we are now in the process of refining the details. The target is to table the bill during the Budget announcement before the end of this year,” Sim said.
He shared this with reporters after officiating the Collective Agreement (CA) signing between the Sarawak Commercial Bank Association and the Sarawak Bank Employee Union at the Sheraton Hotel today.
Sim also mentioned that amendments to the Sarawak Labour Ordinance (SLO) are expected to be tabled in Parliament by the end of this year. — DayakDaily
