SANDAKAN (March 31): IJM Land Berhad (IJM Land) has officially broken ground on a RM4.7 million roundabout at the intersection of Jalan Lintas Sibuga and Persiaran Rimbayu Indah, reinforcing its commitment to improving connectivity and supporting the growth of IJM Rimbayu Indah township.

The project also includes the widening of Persiaran Rimbayu Indah and the construction of a new entrance statement.

The new roundabout will transform the existing junction into a safer and more efficient traffic system, improving flow along the busy Jalan Lintas Sibuga corridor while enhancing accessibility into the township.

It will also feature landscaped elements, creating a welcoming gateway into IJM Rimbayu Indah.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Sandakan Municipal Council President Walter Kenson and IJM Land Chief Executive Officer Datuk Tony Ling Thou Lung last Friday.

The project forms part of IJM Land’s broader efforts to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in the area.

This initiative enhances connectivity within IJM Rimbayu Indah and its surrounding neighbourhoods, including improved access to the adjacent IJM Bandar Utama township.

The strengthened link between IJM Bandar Utama and IJM Rimbayu Indah effectively extends the living ecosystem, offering residents greater convenience and accessibility across both townships.

Scheduled for completion within nine months, the project underscores IJM Land’s commitment to supporting well-planned urban growth in Sandakan through strategic infrastructure investments.

IJM Land has been present in Sandakan since 2000 with the development of IJM Bandar Utama, now a thriving township with a gross development value of RM2.67 billion and nearly 10,000 residents.

Launched in 2017, IJM Rimbayu Indah is a 117-acre mixed-development township, with five completed residential phases delivering 269 homes to date.

Speaking at the event, Datuk Tony Ling said, “We are not merely building infrastructure, but strengthening the foundations of a connected and thriving community.”

He added that upcoming developments will include Infineo, IJM Rimbayu Indah’s first commercial hub featuring 84 shop units, alongside the launch of 44 premium terrace homes, further enhancing the township’s vibrancy.

The new roundabout will not only ease congestion but also improve daily connectivity for residents and surrounding communities — supporting a more connected, safe, and liveable Sandakan.
