ADVERTISE HERE

Ling inspects the affected areas at Tudan Commercial Centre where drain covers are missing and temporarily covered with zinc sheets and plywood.
MIRI (Feb 26): Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak secretary Alan Ling has called on the relevant local authorities to take immediate action to address damaged and missing drain covers at Tudan Commercial Centre here.
Ling said his office had taken note of the unsafe condition involving several drain covers and a fire hydrant cover in front of a cafe at Lot 10751, Tudan Commercial Centre.
According to him, a formal complaint was lodged through the Talikhidmat system on Feb 3.
“Following the complaint, the Lutong Fire and Rescue Department responded promptly and resolved the issue concerning the fire hydrant on the same day,” he said in a statement.
While expressing appreciation for the department’s swift action, Ling noted that the damaged drain covers have yet to be replaced.
He urged the Miri City Council to expedite the necessary repair works to prevent potential accidents.
In the meantime, nearby residents had taken temporary safety measures by covering the exposed areas with zinc sheets, chairs and plywood to minimise risks to pedestrians and motorists.
Ling stressed that prompt maintenance and follow-up action are essential to ensuring public safety, adding that immediate repairs would help safeguard the well-being of the local community.
