KUCHING, June 19: The Islamic Propagation Foundation of Malaysia (Yadim) plans to organise a National Dakwah Programme in Sarawak between September and November this year to enhance public understanding and foster a peaceful, harmonious society in line with national aspirations.

According to Yadim president, Datuk Dr Hasan Bahrom, who led the delegation, details of the programme will be further discussed with Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission, and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, including aspects related to implementation, venues, and programme content.

At the same time, he said that Abang Johari shared his views and advice on adopting a more harmonious approach to Islamic outreach efforts in order to strengthen interfaith and interracial relations, particularly within Sarawak’s diverse society.

“We are very encouraged by the warm reception and the discussions held, particularly on how Islamic outreach can be carried out more harmoniously and prudently so as not to create sensitive issues within the community, especially in Sarawak,” he said during a press conference following the meeting.

Among those present were Sarawak Mufti Datu Khalidi Ibrahim and Yadim Sarawak director Awang Dulhadi Awang Mat.

Meanwhile, in a separate report, the Premier also received a courtesy call from the Miri Malay Welfare Trust Board (LAKMM), led by its newly appointed Board of Trustees for the 2025–2028 term.

The visit aimed to introduce LAKMM’s new leadership lineup and to discuss the organisation’s latest developments as well as development plans aimed at benefiting the Muslim community in the Miri Division.

During the meeting, the LAKMM delegation also outlined the roles and responsibilities of its Board of Trustees in strengthening welfare, education, and socio-economic development initiatives for the local community.

The delegation further shared its aspirations to enhance the effectiveness of programme delivery through a more structured and high-impact approach.

Also present were LAKMM chairman Datuk Abdillah Abdul Rahim, deputy chairman Dato Mohd Chee Kadir, who is also Kabong assemblyman, secretary Councillor Ariffin Mohamad, and treasurer Julaihi Mohamad. — DayakDaily
