KUCHING, 10 Oct: The Senior Service of the State of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar in his fight against communist threats while serving in the security forces will continue to be a part of Sarawak's history.
Sarawak Premier, Datuk Tinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the sacrifices of Tun Dr Wan Junaidi while serving in the Forest Police Force in Rajang Security Area (RASCOM) reflected his willingness to risk his life to keep Sarawak free from communist threats.
"Tun Dr Wan Junaidi's service in defending the peace of Sarawak while serving in the Forest Police Force at RASCOM, is part of a history of unforgettable sacrifice.
"I am sure that the service and willingness to risk lives against communist anarchy will continue to be part of Tun Dr Wan Junaidi's history of sacrifice for a Sarawak free from communist threats", he said.
He said this while addressing the parade and Giant Meeting in conjunction with the 80th Birthday Celebration of Sarawak State in Padang Merdeka, here today.
According to Brother Johari, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi's experience in the field of national security, legislation, constitution and administration provides a broad perspective on the journey of state and country governance.
According to Brother Johari, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi's career includes service in the security forces, legal and political fields.
He explained that Tun Dr Wan Junaidi had also served as a member of the Federal Cabinet and the Yang di-Elder of the National Assembly before being appointed as the Yang di-Elder of Sarawak State.
Brother Johari said, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi's position as the Yang di-Elder of the State also symbolizes an institution that unites people from different races and religions in Sarawak.
"For us in Sarawak, this harmony is not something that can be taken lightly but it's built on mutual respect, tolerance and a willingness to live together despite our different backgrounds.
"Therefore, stability and solidarity are among the main strengths of Sarawak and on this basis we can plan for long-term development, attract investment, develop the economy and give a better future to future generations", he added.
He also recorded his greetings on the occasion of Tun Dr Wan Junaidi's 80th birthday, while praying that he and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, always be given health, well-being and strength to continue together developing Sarawak. - TVS
