KUCHING (March 27): The Padawan Chapter of Junior Chamber International (JCI) sets out to capitalise on its decade of establishment in helping it seize more opportunities for its members and overcome challenges going forward.
This was highlighted by its newly-appointed president Gary Ong during the chapter’s 10th anniversary celebration here recently, which also hosted the installation of the new committee and awards presentation.
The event brought together distinguished guests including Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, local community leaders, past presidents, as well as leaders from other chapters.
In his inaugural address, Ong said JCI Padawan remained stronger than ever due to the unwavering dedication of its members, as well as the vital mentorship of seniors like past president William Bong.
“Looking towards the future, we reaffirm that the heart of the organisation lies in empowering young people to take the leadership responsibility and transform innovative ideas into positive societal change,” he pointed out.
In his remarks, commended JCI Padawan for its decade of service and also its role in nurturing dynamic young leaders in Sarawak.
“The organisation’s values of mutual respect and unity in diversity align perfectly with the Sarawakian spirit, especially in a rapidly developing city like Kuching.
“Leadership is defined by the act of serving others and building teamwork.
“In this regard, I encourage the incoming JCI Padawan board to lead with integrity as they embark on this new chapter of community development and youth empowerment,” he added.
Continuing its legacy of impact, JCI Padawan recently carried out its flagship project, Embrace Programme 4.0, signifying the celebration of community and creativity, as well as reflecting the organisation’s mission within a global network of young leaders to empower and connect individuals through dynamic leadership and business opportunities.
