Jerebu: Serious, four areas in Sarawak registered IPU illness

KUALA LUMPUR, September 13: No area across the country has recorded an Air Pollution Index (IPU) reading at very unhealthy or dangerous levels as of 9am this morning, while only six areas have recorded unhealthy readings.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Serian in Sarawak recorded the highest IPU readings of 185, followed by Sri Aman (174), Samarahan (156), Kuching (156) and Sibu (109).

On the peninsula, Johan Setia, Selangor recorded a reading of IPU 120.

In total, 54 regions across the country recorded IPU readings at medium level, while eight other regions recorded good readings.

IPU readings between zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy), while 301 and above (dangerous). -TVS
