KUCHING, 5 Oct: The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Sarawak and Shell Malaysia Upstream and Integrated Gas held a meeting to coordinate immigration requirements related to the involvement of foreign labour in the implementation of Shell MDS Plant Turnaround 2027.
The Courtesy Meeting & Briefing on Shell MDS Plant Turnaround 2027 & Associated Immigration Requirements was held in Kuching, today.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Director of State Immigration (Kawalan), Norhafiza Junaidi along with officials from Expatriate Services Division, JIM Sarawak.
During the session, Shell provided an explanation of project planning, including the need for involvement of technical personnel, experts and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from domestic and overseas.
According to JIM Sarawak's statement, the discussion also touched on immigration facilities and affairs as well as issues that employers should pay attention to when submitting applications related to foreign labour engagement.
"The initial coordination is essential to ensure that immigration needs can be implemented smoothly, orderly and efficiently throughout the project.
"The cooperation also reflects JIM Sarawak's commitment to enhance relations with industry through information sharing and early coordination", the statement said.
The measure is intended to ensure that the implementation of immigration requirements for Shell MDS Plant Turnaround 2027 is in line with current immigration regulations.
