SRI AMAN, 13 Sept: Project upgrading the hall of John Chendang Long House, Sengkuang Ili, Undop, funded under the RTP 2023 allocation totalling RM200,000 was completed.
The project was inaugurated by the Member of Parliament for Sri Aman, Dato' Sri Doris Sophia Brodie yesterday, in order to provide a more comfortable accommodation for the residents of the longhouses.
Doris expressed gratitude that the project could be perfected to enhance the comfort and well-being of a long-term home community.
In his speech, he called on the people to unite and give support to the Sarawak Party Alliance (GPS) which has a clear vision, plan and direction in securing Sarawak's future from an economic and social perspective.
He also stressed the importance of a spirit of unity among long-term housing communities, especially to ensure that the connections between residents are maintained.
"There are about 870 long houses in the Sri Aman Parliament area, but there are fewer and fewer long houses with as many large doors as before.
"Disagreements and divisions among tenants are among the factors that lead to long-term house breakups. It's very sad and heartbreaking", he said.
Doris also said Sarawak's economy continues to grow under GPS administration, with Sarawak's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2025 reaching RM153.5 billion, registering growth of 3.6 percent.
He also touched on the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund which started with RM8 billion in 2024 and has now increased to RM8.6 billion as long-term savings for future generations.
