KAPIT, 15 September: Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) detained two bullet trucks and three vehicles driven by foreigners in enforcement operations around Kapit-Mujong Road yesterday.
Operation through the Commercial Vehicle Gempur Ops and Foreign Citizen Driver Ops (PEWA) was conducted by JPJ Kapit Operations Unit following complaints as well as public information regarding bullet truck activity in the area.
According to the statement of JPJ Sarawak, as a result of patrol and monitoring conducted, two bullet trucks were detained for further inspection.
"Examination found several errors detected including dangerously carrying cargoes, thinned tire floors and other technical faults.
"In the same operation, JPJ Kapit also detained three vehicles driven by foreigners for not having a valid driver's license", according to the statement.
All the offences detected have been taken according to the provisions of the law in force.
JPJ Sarawak also appreciated the people who forwarded complaints and information, thus helping its side to carry out monitoring and enforcement actions more effectively.
According to JPJ Sarawak, road safety aspects continue to be a priority and similar operations will be implemented continuously to ensure all road users comply with the law and prioritize safety.
