KAPIT (Oct 26): Works Minister and Kapit MP, Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, recently chaired the Sarawak Development Coordination Committee (SDCCM) at Kapit Resident’s Office, discussing the preparations to host a working visit by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here this Nov 6.
According to Nanta, the Premier is scheduled to officiate at the new office for the Upper Rajang Development Agency (Urda) during the visit.
“This (Urda) centre will highlight the important efforts of strengthening the development agenda across the Upper Rejang area, covering Kanowit, Song, Kapit, Bukit Mabong and Belaga,” he said in a statement issued yesterday.
Additionally, Abang Johari would also attend a community gathering at Kapit Civic Centre, where he would also officiate at the launch of a new three-star 10-storey hotel in Kapit.
“This signifies another positive development in the economic and tourism sectors in this area”, said Nanta, also the chairman of Urda.
Other attendees of the SDCCM meeting included Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang; Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan; Baleh assemblyman Nicholas Kudi Jantai; political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Watson Awan Jalai; Works Minister’s political secretary Ambrose Abong Bugek; Kapit Resident Elvis Didit and his deputy Robert Liman; Song District Officer Harry Bruce Edwin; Bukit Mabong District Officer Jabang Juntan; Kapit District Council chairman Andy Lawrence; Kapit divisional engineer Jawa Gara; and Land and Survey Department Kapit superintendent Sagu Unting.
