KUCHING,Oct 25: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin today handed over RM10,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds to the welfare fund of Regiment 511 of the Territorial Army (Askar Wataniah) to support the purchase of electronic equipment and facility upgrades.
Yap presented the cheque to Commanding Officer of Kem Ria Lt Kol Khairul Azri Abdullah during a brief handover ceremony held at Kem Ria in Kuching.
“The MRP contribution serves as a form of moral and practical support from the Sarawak government, recognising the vital role and commitment of the nation’s security forces,” he said.
The allocation will be used to procure several key items to improve the comfort and working environment of Regiment 511 personnel.
These include one unit of 1HP air-conditioner, two units of 2HP air-conditioners, six units of 30-inch industrial fans, one LED television and four units of 500-watt spotlight lamps.
He also expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication and contribution of the Territorial Army in safeguarding the community and assisting the public whenever needed.
Yap assured continued assistance to strengthen the work of security and community groups in his constituency. — DayakDaily
