KUCHING (Feb 21): It was a joyous occasion for staff of KTS Group as they gathered with their families at KTS Garden on Saturday for a full-day Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration featuring lion dances, live music and a variety of festive activities.

Held in the spirit of ushering in the Year of the Horse with health, wealth and happiness, the gathering was hosted by managing director Dato Dr Henry Lau Lee Kong and his wife Datin Wendy Lau.

The event brought together employees from various departments along with their immediate family members for a day of celebration and fellowship.

To accommodate the large turnout, attendance was arranged in designated time slots.

The morning session was for non-Muslim staff, while the evening programme will cater mainly to Muslim staff for buka puasa, reflecting the company’s inclusive approach in bringing together employees of different backgrounds.

Outside the hall, the canopy area was abuzz with interactive booths, game stations, a Red Crescent booth and a KTS product exhibition, attracting steady participation from staff and their children.

Creative activities were among the highlights of the day. Colouring and sand art sessions conducted by Ammar Creative Arts kept children engaged in hands-on projects, while a CNY face painting booth added colour and festive cheer to the celebrations.

Inside the hall, dining was organised in staggered 45-minute slots beginning at 9.45am. Alternating “clean and clear” intervals between groups ensured smooth transitions and orderly movement throughout the programme.

At 12.30pm, the rhythmic beat of drums signalled the start of a lion dance performance, drawing cheers and applause from attendees.

Attendees enjoyed the delicacies served while being entertained by a live band performance.

The vibrant display injected energy into the gathering and captured the spirit of the Lunar New Year.

Live music further enlivened the atmosphere, with a band performing a 90-minute set beginning at 10.30am, followed by a second session at 1pm.

Staff and their families enjoyed the performances while mingling across the grounds.

The evening programme will resume at 6.30pm with additional registration and dining slots, while a second lion dance performance at 7.15pm is scheduled to heighten the festive mood before the event concludes at 10.30pm.

Blending cultural performances, creative activities, product showcases and shared meals, the gathering provided employees and their immediate family members an opportunity to celebrate the festive season together while strengthening camaraderie beyond the workplace.
