KUCHING, Oct 14: Always humbled by non-optional status, Kuching City FC remains determined to hunt for positive results when catering to Kitchee SC's visit to the AFC Champions League Two (ACL2) competition at Taha Ariffin Stadium, tomorrow night.
Head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak said his team had to give their best performance and maintain the discipline of the game in order to face the challenges of Kitchee who has experience acting on the Asian football stage.
He said the meeting was also an opportunity for The Cats to measure their team's actual performance on their first ever ACL2 home field appearance.
"We can't control the decisions, but we can give the best performance and show the right attitude.
"And we have to consider every game as important as the final", he said at a pre-match press conference at Taha Ariffin Stadium, today.
Aidil said, a humble approach and focus on one's own performance is important to ensure that players are not stressed by the opponent's reputation, instead trying to capitalize on the opportunities available to create positive results.
He also emphasized the importance of presenting the best performances to supporters, especially those who are willing to attend from different parts of Sarawak to provide support to the team.
In the meantime, Aidil admitted several players faced injuries, in addition to having to manage the fitness level of the squad through player rotation following a tight match schedule.
Meanwhile, Kuching City striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls described the meeting against Kitchee as an opportunity to recover from a defeat in Cambodia.
He said the entire team was aware of the fans' expectations and wanted to prove that Kuching City could compete on the Asian stage.
"We will give everything to bring pride to Sarawak, Malaysia and especially Kuching", he said.
Kuching City now faces the challenge of proving their ability in front of its own fans.
Dylan said the main focus was on ensuring discipline, commitment and team spirit translated into positive outcomes against the Hong Kong representative.
