KUCHING (Aug 10): The YB Dato Lo Education Fair 2024 has brought together 25 local and international higher learning institutions to offer academic and vocational pathways for school leavers.
Dato Lo Khere Chiang, who is also the Batu Kitang assemblyman, said the education fair was designed to create opportunities for school leavers and help parents make informed decisions to support their children’s aspirations.
“Education is not only a foundation for personal growth but a key driver of societal advancement, and one which has the power to transform lives, shape the future, and build communities we all aspire to have.”
Lo said this in his speech at the event’s launching at the Boulevard Shopping Mall, Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli here today.
Hosted by the Youth Wing of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Batu Kitang branch, the event also witnessed a handover of donation to The Salvation Army, meant to enhance their educational programmes.
The Form 5 and Form 6 students from the Salvation Army and Boys Home were also guided on how to apply for admission to higher learning institutions, as well as the financial aid processes.
Also taking place at the event was the presentation of incentives to outstanding Form 5 and Form 6 students from participating schools.
Present were officials from Yayasan Sarawak, National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), and the Public Service Department (JPA).
Also in attendance were sponsoring bodies namely Boulevard Shopping Mall and LYA Construction Sdn Bhd; MPP council member Alvin Chong, and event’s chairperson Amy Chong.
