KUCHING (April 7): Iban singer Jenny Tan passed away on Monday.
Media Hiburan Sarawak posted on Facebook that the singer breathed her last at around 10.40pm.
The wake will be held at her residence at Taman Greenwood, Mile 9 here.
In a tribute on Facebook, fellow Iban artiste Rickie Andrewson said Jenny was a long-serving figure in the Iban music industry.
He noted that she was not only a singer but was also associated with Golden Pearl Studio Kuching, which has been operating since the 1990s, and has produced many local artistes including Maxwell Franklin Saran, Timothy, Betty, and Jenny’s own husband Jennarino Jeraki.
“This is very sad news and may her husband and the family remain patient and strong in facing this difficult time,” he said in the post.
Jenny was known for several popular Iban music songs such as ‘Lelaki’ and ‘Dara Merati’.
She was regarded as one of the personalities who contributed to the growth of Iban entertainment.
Apart from singing, she was also involved in the production of Iban films under Golden Pearl Studio Kuching, working alongside artistes under the studio’s management.
