SIBU (April 2): Sibu Hospital has received a donation of 80 ceiling fans from two local businessmen to replace old and damaged units at the facility.
The fans were donated by Steven Wong Ha Kiang and Lau Kiung Hui through the Sibu Hospital Board of Visitors.
The handover ceremony was held on Wednesday at the hospital entrance and attended by Sibu Hospital director Dr Nanthakumar A/L Thirunavukkarasu, his deputy Dr Nizam Ishak and Board of Visitors chairman Michael Lee.
Dr Nanthakumar said the hospital, which has about 24 wards and multiple waiting areas, identified the need after several ceiling fans were found to be damaged or worn out.
“We requested assistance through the Sibu Hospital Board of Visitors, and the chairman helped coordinate the donation of 80 ceiling fans,” he said.
He said the new units will be installed in wards, waiting areas and other key locations to improve comfort for both patients and staff.
Meanwhile, Lee urged the public to continue supporting hospital needs for the benefit of patients.
He said future initiatives include efforts to obtain water filters, describing them as an essential basic necessity that should be accessible without relying solely on the hospital’s resources.
