KUCHING, Dec 15: ‘Missing You‘, a Chinese-language film produced in Sarawak, is set to premiere on TV Sarawak (TVS) Channel 122, MYTV, Unifi TV, and Astro on Dec 17 at 9.15pm.
Written by Jimz Lee, who is also one of the directors, the film highlights the story of a Singaporean digital influencer, Ah Ren (played by Singaporean actor Benjamin Josiah Tan), and Sarawakian tour guide Ah Mei (played by Sarawakian actress and singer Riona Chung).
According to a press release, Ah Ren travels to Sarawak in search of his long-lost sister, with little fragments of his memories and a taste familiar to him guiding him from a well-known local noodle dish, ‘kolo mee’ or ‘mee kolo’.
According to Lee, although Ah Ren is searching for his sister in the movie, what is more important is that he finds himself and his family again through this journey.
“Through this movie, I would like to bring out the beauty of Sarawak so that people will love this land more, including the people, the environment, and, more importantly, the food.
“Last but certainly not least is the traditional Sarawakian musical instrument, the sape, featuring Jerry Kamit. ‘Missing You’ is sure to keep viewers entertained and naturally invested in finding themselves,” he said.
He added that they are also collaborating with Sarawakian musician Andrew Bong in the movie for the first time.
‘Missing You’ is produced by a local Sarawak production house, The Dream Film Production Sdn Bhd, led by film producer David Lim, who has worked on a few films for TVS.
The Dream Film Production will be collaborating with Ventura Interactive again for Jimz Lee’s next feature film, ‘You Are My Son’, supported by FINAS Malaysia, starring award-winning Malaysia actress and singer-songwriter Yise Lo, set to release in 2025.
The original motion picture soundtrack for ‘Missing You’, composed by Bong, has been released in 249 countries and over 20 online stores and is now available on major music streaming platforms such as Spotify, YouTube Music, and many more. — DayakDaily
