LAWAS, Sept 12: A total of 19 witnesses have been called to assist investigations into the fatal Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash at Long Lellang in Baram on Tuesday (Sept 8).

In a TVS news report, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said a preliminary report on the crash is expected within 30 days of the incident.

“We have recorded statements from 19 witnesses who can assist our investigation. At the same time, the Air Accident Investigation Bureau has also conducted, or commenced, its investigation,” he said.

He said this when met by the media after the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sarawak Contingent’s Town Hall Discussion Series 2/2026 in the Lawas district here today.

Mohamad Zainal also said the Chemistry Department delivered the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) test results for all five victims today.

He said the remains of all five victims would be handed over to their respective families today, along with the necessary documentation process.

The victims were pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham; medical officer Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin; medical assistant Alexson Adit Henry; and nurses Debra Moset and Jessie Paya Jok. — DayakDaily
