KUCHING (Feb 24): A collision involving a lorry and trailer truck along Jalan Muara Tebas here on Tuesday saw two men in the lorry flung onto the road.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident left the lorry driver with serious injuries and his attendant with a fractured left arm.

“Acting on a distress call at 1.46pm, rescuers from the Tabuan Jaya fire station were rushed to the location where they found two individuals from the lorry had been thrown out of their vehicle.

“The driver of the trailer did not sustain any injuries,” it said in a statement, adding the injured pair was transported by medical personnel to the hospital.

In a separate incident, Bomba reported that an elderly man reported missing since last Friday was found safe on a hill near Tasik Biru in Bau, near here, on Tuesday.

It said the 78-year-old man was discovered alive but in a weak state by family members, who then contacted Bomba at 11.39am requesting for help to bring the senior citizen down from the hill.

“Personnel from the Bau fire station arrived at the spot at 12.09pm and used a stretcher to carry the victim to the foot of the hill.

“He was then transported in a Bomba Emergency Medical Rescue Services ambulance to the hospital for treatment,” said the department.
