The seized drugs valued at RM277,200.

MIRI, Jan 3: Miri police’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) successfully apprehended four individuals, including a female, for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking during a recent operation at Miri Airport.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the arrests, which took place on Dec 28 last year.

The suspects, aged 23 to 34, were detained at Miri Airport with a significant quantity of methamphetamine (syabu) weighing 8,400 grammes and estimated to be worth approximately RM227,200.

The arrests occurred as the suspects arrived in Miri around 4.30pm from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The authorities made the arrests while the individuals were undergoing security screening at the airport.

“During further checks, police discovered a box containing a total of eight green-colored parcels inside containing methamphetamine,” Alexson stated.

Initial investigations indicate that the seized drugs were intended for distribution in the local market.

All four suspects are currently in remand for five days, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952. — DayakDaily
