KUCHING (Feb 24): The Sarawak Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) is committed to upholding welfare, solidarity and care among the state’s civil service community.

This was reflected in the contributions to members during an ‘iftar’ (break-of-fast) programme held at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here on Monday night.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg joined state and federal civil servants at the event, which commenced with a recitation of Al-Quran verses.

“This was followed by the break-of-fast, providing an opportunity for the leaders and civil servants to strengthen ties and foster goodwill,” said a post on Premier’s official Facebook page ‘Sarawakku’.

After iftar, Abang Johari as patron of Maksak presented the contributions.

Among those present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, State Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
