Man gets 13 months’ jail for molesting friend’s sleeping sister in Petra Jaya

KUCHING, Jun 16: A 26-year-old local man was sentenced to 13 months in prison by the Magistrate’s Court here today after admitting to molesting his friend’s younger sister while she was asleep in her bedroom.

The accused pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali.

According to the charge, he was accused of outraging the modesty of a 21-year-old woman by touching her buttocks and waist at about 5.50am on April 22 at the victim’s home in a village in Petra Jaya.

The court heard that the accused, who was a friend of the victim’s brother, entered the woman’s unlocked bedroom during the early hours of the morning.

While the victim was asleep, he allegedly touched her inappropriately. She woke up and found him standing beside her bed before he fled the scene.

Following the incident, the victim lodged a police report, prompting an investigation by the authorities.

Police arrested the accused later that same day at around 4pm.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Fauzulutfi Suriani prosecuted the case, while the accused was not represented by counsel. — DayakDaily
