Man jailed four months for trespassing into private land in Kuching

KUCHING (Aug 8): A 20-year-old man was sentenced to four months’ jail by the Magistrates’ Court here today for trespassing into a private land in Muara Tebas here.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi meted out the sentence against Muhamad Nazmi Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term for up to six months or a fine up to RM3,000, or both.

He committed the offence at Blok 11, Muara Tebas Land District here at around 10pm on May 5, 2024.

Based on the facts of the case, a security guard found that Muhamad Nazmi had entered a private land without permission.

The guard and his co-worker then detained Muhamad Nazmi before handing him over to the police for further action.

Investigations found that he had trespassed into the area belonging to a woman without her permission.

It was understood that he trespassed into the area to steal zinc fences but was caught by the security guard before he could do so.

Insp Nur Shafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted the case while Muhammad Nazmi was unrepresented by a lawyer.
