KOTA SAMARAHAN, June 23: A suspected affair is believed to have sparked a domestic dispute between a married couple, leading to a man suffering severe injuries after being slashed with a knife in an incident at a housing area near Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa here last night (June 22).

Acting Kota Samarahan District Police chief, DSP Barry William, said the 35-year-old victim sustained serious abdominal injuries in the incident, which occurred at about 6.50pm.

He said the wound caused part of the victim’s intestines to protrude, and the victim was immediately rushed for emergency surgery at a nearby medical facility.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim and the suspect, who is his wife, have been married for 12 years and have three children, but have been living separately for over two years due to ongoing misunderstandings,” he said in a statement today as reported by TVS.

Barry said the victim had gone to his wife’s rented home when an argument broke out, believed to have been triggered by jealousy and allegations of infidelity involving the woman.

Investigations also revealed that the suspect claimed the victim had struck her on the head with a helmet during the confrontation, causing injuries.

“The suspect is believed to have then grabbed a knife and swung it towards the victim, who was said to have followed her into the house, causing the weapon to strike his abdomen,” he said.

Following the incident, the woman reportedly brought the victim to hospital for treatment before being detained by police. She also sustained head injuries and received medical attention prior to her arrest to assist investigations.

Police have since seized a knife believed to have been used in the attack.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.

Barry added that the suspect has been remanded to assist investigations, while the victim remains hospitalised under medical supervision. — DayakDaily
