Man rescued from Sarawak River in Kuching

KUCHING (Aug 11): A man in his 40s was rescued after falling into the Sarawak River here at around 7.20pm last night.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident, which occurred near a condominium, was witnessed by a member of the public who alerted the authorities.

It said firefighters from the Padungan fire station were despatched to the scene to rescue the victim after being notified about the incident.

“The victim, who was found to be in semi-conscious, was safely pulled from the river using a bucket stretcher.

“He was immediately handed over to paramedics and transported to the Sarawak General Hospital for medical attention,”

The firefighters ended the operation at 7.50pm.
