KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will extend its counter services on Oct 24 and 25 (Saturday and Sunday) to facilitate payment of assessment rates for the second half of 2026.

According to a statement, MBKS said its One-Stop Service Centre at Jalan Padungan would be open from 8am to 4pm on Oct 24, and from 8am to 12pm on Oct 25, exclusively for assessment bill payments.

The council reminded ratepayers that the payment deadline for the second half of 2026 assessment rates is Oct 31, with a surcharge of one per cent per month, or part thereof, on late payments.

MBKS said it had issued assessment bills for the first and second halves of 2026 by post or delivered them through council staff.

Ratepayers who have not received their bills can subscribe to e-billing or request copies at the MBKS One-Stop Service Counter on the ground floor of the council’s headquarters or at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) on Level 1, Jalan Bukit Mata.

The council stressed that it would not accept non-receipt of assessment bills as grounds for waiving the surcharge.

Payments can be made online via PayBills Malaysia, the Sarawak government services portal, Sarawak Pay, internet banking, JomPAY, and participating banks.

Ratepayers can also pay at counters operated by Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), SESCO, Kuching Water Board, the post office, Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), UTC, and MBKS.

MBKS accepts credit card payments at its payment counters.

The deadline for the first-half 2026 assessment rates was May 31, 2026. — DayakDaily
