KUCHING, Jan 8: Three recreational parks in the Kota Sentosa constituency will be upgraded for a total of RM140,000 under Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funding, with completion expected in April 2024.

The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will supervise the upgrading works for the three residential parks: Borneo Garden Recreation Park, Green Heights Recreation Park, and Lorong Stampin Tengah 12 Recreation Park.

According to a press release issued by Yap today, N.W Enterprise is the contractor for the RM50,000 upgrading works at Borneo Garden Recreation Park, Off Jalan Lapangan Terbang; Syarikat Cahaya Fajar is the contractor for the RM50,000 upgrading works at Green Heights Recreation Park, Off Jalan Lapangan Terbang; and Usaha Timur Construction is the contractor for the RM40,000 upgrading works at Lorong Stampin Tengah 12 Recreation Park.

“I have requested MBKS to closely monitor and supervise the upgrading works to ensure that they are completed on time and with quality finishing so that the benefits of the upgrades can be delivered to the public on time.

“This is because recreation parks in residential areas provide a conducive venue for the public to congregate, exercise, organise social activities and events, provide active recreation opportunities for all ages, and generally contribute towards improving the quality of life for the local communities as well as improving property values for the area,” he was quoted as saying in the press release following the handover of letter of award and site to the successful contractors for three of the projects.

Yap also pledged to serve as a ‘check and balance’ on government authorities in charge of public service delivery, and he remains committed to securing more state development funding to improve and gradually upgrade all neglected infrastructure to raise living standards and improve the quality of life for all communities in N12 Kota Sentosa.

Meanwhile, during the handover upgrade project at Borneo Garden Recreation Park earlier today with Yap, which was live streamed on MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng’s official Facebook page, Wee stated that it is a new year and the most important thing is to serve the people of Kuching and deliver results. — DayakDaily
