ADVERTISE HERE
KUCHING (Sept 23): A 10-day Mid-Autumn Festival Food Fair at the Batu Kawah Old Bazaar here concluded yesterday, drawing a large crowd.
The traditional event’s closing ceremony was graced by Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi, along with several local community leaders and other invited guests.
Children were seen taking photographs with a giant lantern displayed near the Batu Kawah Guang Loong Temple to commemorate this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, which fell on Sept 17.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the Lunar calendar, featuring a full moon at night.
This festival typically falls in late September or early October. On this day, the Chinese believe that the moon is at its brightest and fullest, coinciding with harvest time in the middle of autumn.
