Ministry’s support for festival anticipated

LAWAS: The hosting the Trusan River Rafting Challenge Festival 2023 in Long Tengoa can help showcase the area’s natural beauty as well as popularise it.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan anticipates significant support from the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts for the organisation of the event in the future.

“I will make sure this festival is made into an annual event and is included in the Sarawak Tourism Calendar,” he said.

He said when speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival at Kampung Long Tengoa, Trusan on Friday (Dec 2).

“Apart from that, I assure you that the requests for the construction of longhouses and internet services will be examined after this,” he said.

On a related note, Awang Tengah said Long Tengoa had received many development projects including those pertaining to roads and water supply.

“However, there is still a need for a collaborative effort to expedite the water project through a planned meeting,” he said.

Later, Awang Tengah also allocated RM20,000 to the Tagal Okolod Association.
