MIRI (Feb 26): Police have arrested a man here on suspicion of stealing bottles of fish oil supplements from a health and personal care store on Wednesday.
A team from the Crime Prevention Branch (CPJ) of the Miri Central Police Station led by ASP Goldy Jangan detained the suspect at around 1pm on Jalan Dato Permaisuri following a tipoff.
Police also seized six bottles of Omega-3 fish oil supplements, believed to have been stolen, as case exhibits.
Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the suspect is currently under remand at the Miri Central police station lock-up for investigation purposes.
“The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine upon conviction,” he said in a statement.
He stressed the police will not compromise with any form of property crime and will continue to intensify operations and monitoring of public hotspots to ensure the safety and security of the community.
