MIRI, Dec 17: A housewife her 30s from Miri was duped of RM50,000 in a part-time online job scam.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed in a statement today that the police received a police report lodged by the victim on December 16.

“The victim was lured by the high commission from an online task given by the suspect via TikTok,” he said.

All she had to do was just click the “follow” and “link” buttons on the page, he added.

After completing the task, the vicitm was asked to make payment via her “e-wallet” app.

“Because of the insufficient balance, she was instructed to transfer the payment via online banking,” Alexson said.

The victim had made a total eight transactions to a bank account number given by the suspect.

Alexson said the victim did not receive a single sen from the part-time job and lost all the money which she had transferred, prompting the victim to lodge a police report. — DayakDaily
