SIBU: SeDidik Sarawak, a subsidiary of the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), is planning to expand its network of kindergarten and nursery centres by next year.

SeDidik general manager, Ayub Dahari, said that it currently operates 80 kindergartens and 20 nursery centres across the state.

“In 2024, we are set to increase our presence with 106 centres. A new addition will be the Tadika Rumah Seliau in Ulu Oya, within the Sibu Zone,” Ayub said during the 32nd SeDidik Convocation Ceremony for Sibu Zone, held at a hotel here today (Dec 3).

His speech was delivered on his behalf by SeDidik’s senior manager of Corporate Services Siti Rodziah Bunsu.

The ceremony also saw 89 children from 13 kindergartens here receiving their graduation certificates.

Ayub expressed deep appreciation to the state government, especially the Ministry of Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing, for various grants received which have been instrumental in enhancing SeDidik’s operations and service quality.

“The grants are crucial for us to continuously improve our services at various centres, ensuring that we always offer the best to parents and the community,” Ayub added.

The convocation was officiated by the Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh. Ahmat Adai, an Officer from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), represented him and read his speech.

Len highlighted the growing trust in SeDidik, evidenced by the increasing access and demand from the local community.

“It’s essential that we keep enhancing our service quality, facilities, and the competencies of our teachers,” he said.
