Motorcycle rider dead from a broken rear bumper.

SERIAN, Oct. 4: A 21-year-old man died after his motorcycle hit the back of a pickup truck at Kilometer 61, Kuching-Sri Aman Road here yesterday.

Serian Regional Police Chief Superintendent Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said the incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. when the pickup truck was believed to have stopped on the left shoulder of the road after its driver went out to clear water.

"The motorcycle the victim was riding then broke into the rear of the vehicle.

"The victim from Kampung Hulu, Serian suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment", he said in a statement today.

However, he said the victim was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. last night.

"The truck driver was not injured in the incident.

"The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987", he said.
