DARO, July 4: A motorcyclist was killed following an accident with a lorry at Jalan Kampung Semop, Pulau Bruit, on Friday night (July 3).

According to Matu-Daro district police chief, Deputy Superintendent Rahim Mihos, information on the accident was received at around 7.40pm before a team was deployed to the scene.

Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding a motorcycle from the Batang Paloh Ferry and was believed to be travelling home to Kampung Semop.

“At the same time, a lorry was travelling from Kampung Penipah and was believed to be heading towards Sarikei.

“Initial investigations found that as the victim collided with the lorry when entering a junction,” he said in a statement today, as reported by TVS.

He said the impact threw the 43-year-old victim onto the left roadside shoulder, leaving the victim with severe injuries and unconscious, and was later pronounced dead by a medical team that arrived at the scene.

The victim’s body was taken to Daro Hospital for a post-mortem examination, while investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and all circumstances surrounding the incident. — DayakDaily
