MIRI, 12 September: All five victims of the FDS helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Baram, were handed over to their respective heirs today.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said that with the completion of the surrender process, further matters including returning the bodies to their villages will be handled by the heirs with the help of relevant parties.
"We have handed over all the victims to the heirs for further proceedings", she told reporters at Miri Hospital, here today.
He said flight arrangements will be made according to the needs of each family, with some expected to fly tomorrow.
"Some of them may use commercial flights, while other flights are also considered depending on the arrangements made", he said.
The police are also conducting a process of seizing the personal belongings of the victims to hand them over to their heirs.
Mohamad Zainal said the investigation to determine the exact cause of the disaster is now being continued by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU).
The FDS helicopter crashed in Long Lellang, Baram, last Tuesday, killing five people.
