KUCHING: PFA Odin maintained their unbeaten streak at the PETRONAS Youth Football Closed Tournament 2024, securing an impressive 6-1 victory over Axis Academy.
Assistant Coach Daniel Hafiez expressed confidence in his players’ ability to sustain their momentum.
“For the next game, we need to maintain our momentum with good rest and the right mindset,” he told Sarawak Tribune yesterday.
Daniel attributed the team’s strong performance to their grassroots coaching foundation.
“We’ve trained them since they were young and built them up to this level,” he said.
While he praised the team’s training, he acknowledged challenges in securing adequate facilities.
“We often have to search for football fields to train at,” he added.
Daniel noted that many of his players have a futsal background, which has contributed to their success.
“We didn’t expect to win by such a large margin. Most of our players play futsal, and some also play football,” he said.
He mentioned that several players have experience in SUKMA and have represented Kuching.
“This win is a great achievement,” he said.
PFA Odin dominated the match, controlling the midfield and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Their players displayed excellent technique and teamwork, resulting in a comfortable victory.
